FAQs

Is breakfast included? What do we get?
Breakfast is served daily and includes toast, butter and jam, cookies and milk, tea, and – of course- tons of coffee! On weekends and @ Summertime breakfast will be served on the roof garden which has an awesome view of Athens and its surrounding green areas. This terrace will also be open during the day and in the evening as a common space to chill, have a drink and a chat...

Is there a kitchen for guests’ use?
Yes, you can use the kitchen on your floor (fridge & microwave oven are provided). Please keep kitchen clean and wash your dishes as soon as you are finished. Anyway, Athens is also a very cheap city to eat out. Taste great GYROS & SOUBLAKIA for a few Euros, you’ll love it!

Do I need to bring bed sheets or a sleeping-bag?
No, we provide with anything you may need- sheets, blankets, pillow cases...- and everything is included in the price of the bed. If you would like you can also rent one of our towels for a small fee.

Is smoking allowed in the hostel? What about drinking?
Athens Northern Backpackers is a smoke-free hostel. Smoking is not allowed in the hostel. You can smoke on the balconies though and on the roof terrace, provided that you use the ashtrays and do not through cigarette-butts in the garden!
Drinking is not allowed in the rooms and liqueurs (super-alcoholic drinks) are forbidden. You can enjoy your beer on the roof terrace though or have an OUZO with us. Any guest found intoxicated that disturbs other guests' stay will be asked to leave immediately.

· What about drugs?
Consumption of any kind of drugs is strictly forbidden in the hostel. Anyone found consuming or being in possession of drugs in the hostel will be asked to leave immediately and will be reported to the police.

What time is check-in/check-out? Do you have a luggage deposit?
You can check in after 12 every day and you have to leave before 10 am on the day of check-out. At check out you should return the key to get your deposit back and any towel rented. We would be grateful if you could drop your linen in the box at reception.
If you are leaving the hostel early in the morning please return your key the previous night.
If you arrive late in the night (for example after midnight) you will be charged for that night. Otherwise, you’ll have to check in after 12 (noon) the next day.
You can leave your luggage at the hostel on the day of departure if you would like, but it has to be collected before 10 pm on the same day.

Any events going on?
BBQ nights and Greek parties going on @ Summertime. Come upstairs and enjoy!

Is that a private house? Hostel?
It is a totally new 4-floor house entirely dedicated to our guests during the month of August. We already have experience in hospitality in Italy.
Please check this web site:
www.utenti.lycos.it/mammabackpackers

 Can we use the kitchen?
Yes, breakfast is included though.

Will we have a key of the house? Or will someone be there to open the door?
We will be there during the day, you can have a key for late coming at night anyway

How many people will be at the dorms? And in the private rooms? What about costs?
There are 4,6 8-bed and dorms and private twin / single rooms. Prices can change depending
on the length and period of your stay, but are around 20 euros
per person per night for a bed in a dorm and  60 euros per room per night for a private twin room.

How will the payment be arranged?
Payment is at arrival, in cash only.

Which is the closest subway station?
The subway is MAROYSSI STATION. You can catch a free bus right across the road that takes you
to the subway station in a few minutes. From there you have access to any subway line.

Is there a private bathroom?  Or is it shared?
If you have a bed in a dorm you'll also have to share your bathroom with your room-mates!
If you are staying in a private room the bathroom will be only shared with another double
or single room.

What kind of security will we have?
The house is in a totally safe area, plus we will be there most of the time. Living your valuables in a
dorm room though can always be a risk (you will probably know if you have been in a hostel).
There are a few lockers though and you can also leave your passports / other stuff at the reception
if you would like, we will lock them up for you.
While staying in a private room, you will be free to lock your stuff inside and leave the key at
the reception for extra safety.

Where is your place located within Athens? Will we be close to any olympic venues?
The house is in Maroyssi, 2 subway stops from the Olympic stadium.
The Olympic Venues are located in different parts of the city though and it's up to you to check
where the sports you will be watching are. Once you will b staying with us we will be glad to help you get
organised with public transportation and help you reach your destination.

Will there be a curfew? For example, would it be alright with you if we came back very late
one night - say 2:00am? - We are young travellers, and so we would like to party in Athens.
Hopefully this is ok.
Athens is a party town so you'd better not miss the fun! You'll have your keys for the night.
The only rule is not to disturb your room-mates late at night when you come back...
Occasionally we will organise a party or a dinner on the roof garden, in order to let you taste
original Greek dishes and relax under the stars.
